Good driving practices

  • Do not move the selector lever out of P (Park) or N (Neutral) to any other position with the accelerator pedal pressed.
  • Never move the selector lever to P (Park) while the vehicle is moving.
  • Make sure the vehicle is completely stopped before attempting to engage reverse.
  • Never go downhill in neutral.

This is very dangerous. Always keep the gear engaged while the vehicle is moving.
  • Do not overuse the brakes, to avoid overheating and possible malfunctions. When driving down long descents, reduce speed and shift to a lower gear. In this way, engine braking helps slow the vehicle.
  • Slow down before downshifting. Otherwise, the lower gear may not engage.
  • Always use the parking brake. Do not rely only on moving the shift lever to P (Park) to prevent the vehicle from moving.
  • Exercise the utmost caution when driving on slippery surfaces, especially when braking, accelerating or changing gears. On slippery surfaces, a sudden change in vehicle speed can cause the driven wheels to lose traction and the vehicle to lose control.
  • Smooth application and release of the accelerator pedal ensures optimal vehicle performance and fuel economy.
  • WARNING

    • Always wear your seat belt! In a collision, an occupant not wearing a seat belt is more likely to suffer serious or fatal injuries than one who is wearing it correctly.
    • Limit your speed when cornering or turning.
    • Do not make sudden steering movements, such as abrupt lane changes or fast, tight turns.
    • The risk of rollover is significantly higher if the vehicle is lost of control at high speed.
    • Loss of control often occurs when two or more wheels leave the road surface and the driver oversteers to get back on the road.
    • If the vehicle leaves the road surface, do not steer abruptly. Slow down before attempting to return to the roadway.
    • Never exceed the posted speed limits.
WARNING If the vehicle is stuck in mud, snow, sand, etc., you may try to free it by rocking it forward and backward. Do not attempt this procedure if people or objects are near the vehicle. While freeing the vehicle, it may suddenly move forward or backward once it is released from the obstacle, causing injury to persons or damage to property.

Driving uphill from a standstill To start uphill, press the brake pedal and move the selector lever to D (Drive). Select the appropriate gear according to the load and the slope of the road, then release the parking brake. Accelerate gradually while releasing the brakes.
