Inspection

Inspection (with KDS/GDS)
  1. Body electrical system malfunctions can be quickly diagnosed using the vehicle diagnostic system (KDS/GDS). The diagnostic system (KDS/GDS) provides the following information.
    1. Self-Diagnosis: Checks for malfunctions and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    2. Current Data: Checks the input/output status of the system.
    3. Actuation Test: Checks the operating condition of the system.
    4. Additional function: Controls other functions, including system parameter setting and zero point adjustment.
  2. Select "Vehicle Model" and "Telematics System" to check the vehicle with the scan tool.
  3. Select the "Current Data" menu to check the current status of the inputs/outputs.
  4. Test Mode Operating Conditions
    1. The vehicle battery is connected properly.
    2. One minute has passed after ignition ON.
    3. The vehicle remains stationary for 1 minute or more.
  5. Conditions Preventing Test Mode Operation
    1. PSAP Call in Progress
    2. Callback Mode: After a successful call, the eCall system enters callback mode and stands by for 120 minutes to receive calls from the call center.
    3. Test mode ends automatically when vehicle speed reaches 1 km/h or above, or when the vehicle travels 300 m or more.
    4. Less than two minutes have passed since the previous test call was completed.
  6. Test Mode Sequence (Audio Guidance)
    1. LED Test
    2. Speaker Test
    3. MIC Test
    4. BUB (Backup Battery built into the eCall module) Test (no separate notification is provided if the BUB is in normal condition).
    5. Test Call (pressing the SOS button sends the test result to the PSAP.)
eCall Test Mode: Press the SOS TEST button to activate the voice guidance and test the eCall system as instructed. In the Test Call stage, which is the last stage of the test mode, press the SOS button following the voice guidance to send the faulty component data to the call center. To exit the test mode, press the SOS TEST button again during voice guidance.Backup Battery Check: The Backup Battery (BUB) built into the eCall system has a limited service life, and its charging/discharging performance may decrease after extensive use. The backup battery ensures operation of the eCall system when the vehicle battery cannot be used due to an accident. Be sure to inspect the backup battery if the red LED is illuminated, and replace it if necessary.
