Cluster Variant Coding
Since the vehicle has more options (ESC, MDPS, etc.), the instrument cluster now has more information to display depending on the selected options.
For this reason, it is necessary to determine which options the vehicle has when replacing the instrument cluster.
To solve this problem, a coding procedure based on the options required for the vehicle should be performed when replacing the instrument cluster.
This is called variant coding.
Repair Procedures
Removal
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
Remove the cluster fascia.
(Refer to Body — "Instrument Panel")
Separate the instrument cluster (A) after loosening the mounting screws.

Remove the instrument cluster after disconnecting the instrument cluster connectors (A).

Installation
Install the cluster after connecting the cluster connectors.
Install the cluster fascia panel.
Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.

Diagnosis Using KDS/GDS
Electrical body system faults can be quickly diagnosed using the vehicle diagnostic system (KDS/GDS).
The diagnostic system (KDS/GDS) provides the following information.
Self-Diagnosis: Checks malfunction and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
Current Data: Check the system input/output status.
Actuation Test: Check the system operating status
Additional function: Control of other functions, including the setting parameter system and zero point adjustment.
Select "Vehicle Model" and "Cluster Module (CLU)" to inspect. Order vehicle inspection using the tester.
Select the "Current Data" menu to view the current input/output data status.

To forcibly activate the input value of the module under test, select the "Activation Test" option.

CLU Variant Coding
After replacing the cluster with a new one, perform the "Variant Coding" procedure.
Connect the KDS/GDS cable to the data link connector on the driver's side, lower panel of the emergency area, then turn on the KDS/GDS power.
Select the model and "BCM".
Select Variant Coding mode to perform.

If trouble codes occur while performing variant coding, check the CLU installation condition, then try CLU Variant Coding again.
