Heating

  1. Set the mode to the.
  2. Set the air intake control to the fresh outside air position (fresh).
  3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
  4. Set the blower speed control to the desired value.
  5. If heating with dehumidification is required, turn on the air conditioning system (if equipped).
  • If the windshield fogs up, set the mode to theor
    .

Operating tips

  • To prevent dust and unpleasant odors from the vehicle ahead from entering through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to the air recirculation position. To keep fresh air in the vehicle, remember to return to the fresh air intake position once the irritation has passed. This will help the driver stay alert and ensure driving comfort.
  • Air for the heating/cooling system is drawn in through the grille directly in front of the windshield. Make sure it is not blocked by leaves, snow, ice, or other obstructions.
  • To prevent internal fogging of the windshield, set the air intake control to the fresh outside air position, set the blower speed to the desired value, turn on the air conditioning system, and adjust the temperature to the desired level.

Air conditioning

Kia air conditioning systems are filled with the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-134a.

  1. Start the engine. Press the air conditioning button.
  2. Set the mode to the.
  3. Set the air intake control to the fresh outside air position or the air recirculation position.
  4. Adjust the blower speed and temperature for maximum comfort.
  • When maximum cooling is required, set the temperature control to the far left position, then set the blower speed to the highest setting.

NOTE

  • When using the air conditioning system while driving uphill or in heavy traffic, if the outside temperature is high, monitor the temperature gauge closely. Operation of the air conditioning system may cause the engine to overheat. You may continue using the blower, but if the temperature gauge indicates engine overheating, turn off the air conditioning.
  • If the windows are opened in humid weather, the air conditioning may cause condensation to form inside the vehicle.
Because excess condensation may damage electrical equipment, the air conditioner should only be operated with the windows closed.

Air conditioning operating tips

  • If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight on a sunny day, open the windows briefly to let the hot air out of the vehicle interior.
  • To reduce interior window fogging on rainy and humid days, lower the humidity inside the vehicle by running the air conditioning system.
  • While the air conditioning system is operating, you may occasionally notice small changes in engine speed during the air conditioning compressor cycles. This is a normal characteristic of the system.
  • To keep the system working at maximum efficiency, run the air conditioning for a few minutes at least once a month.
  • When using the air conditioning system, you may notice clear water dripping (or even forming a puddle) on the ground under the passenger side of the vehicle. This is a normal sign of system operation.
  • Operating the air conditioning system in recirculation mode provides maximum cooling; however, continuous operation in this mode may make the air inside the vehicle stale.
  • During cooling operation, you may sometimes see a mist of air flowing out because the humid intake air is cooled quickly. This is normal system operation.
  • If the air conditioning is used excessively, the difference between the outside air temperature and the temperature of the windshield may cause the outside of the windshield to fog up, reducing visibility. In this case, set the mode selector knob or button to the position (), and turn the blower speed control knob to a lower setting.
