Checking the windshield washer fluid level

The reservoir is translucent, so the fluid level can be checked easily by sight.

Check the windshield washer fluid level in the reservoir and top up the fluid if necessary.

If windshield washer fluid is not available, plain water can be used. However, when operating the vehicle in a cold climate, use water with antifreeze dissolved in it to prevent the fluid from freezing.

WARNING
  • Do not use engine coolant or antifreeze of this type to fill the windshield washer fluid reservoir.
  • Spraying the windshield with coolant may significantly reduce visibility and cause loss of vehicle control, or damage the paint and the protective coating of the vehicle body.
  • The substances contained in windshield washer fluid contain some alcohol and may be flammable under certain conditions. Do not allow sparks or open flames near the washer fluid or the washer fluid reservoir. Failure to do so may damage the vehicle or cause injury to occupants.
  • Windshield washer fluid is poisonous to humans and animals. Do not drink it and avoid direct contact with this fluid. Such contact may cause very serious injury or even death of the affected person.
