Fuses

The vehicle's electrical system is protected against damage caused by electrical overload by blade-type fuses.
The vehicle has 2 fuse boxes.
One of these fuse boxes is located in the instrument panel on the driver's side, near the knee, and the other is located in the engine compartment near the battery. If any of the vehicle's warning lights come on, it means that some equipment or control is not functioning. In this case, check the fuse of the corresponding electrical circuit. When a fuse blows, the element inside the fuse melts.
If the electrical system does not work, first check the fuse box located on the driver's side. When replacing a blown fuse, install a fuse with the same rated current.
If a newly installed fuse blows, this indicates a problem in the electrical system. In this case, stop using the affected system immediately and consult an authorized Kia dealer.
The following types of fuses are used: blade-type for low rated currents, cartridge-type and universal-type for high rated currents.
WARNING - Replacing fuses- Do not install any fuse other than one with the same rated current as the previously used fuse.
- Using a fuse with a higher rated current may damage the system and cause a fire.
- Never bridge a fuse with wire instead of installing the correct fuse, even as a temporary repair. This may cause serious damage to the electrical system and cause a fire.
NOTE The current fuse/relay box layout may differ depending on the equipment installed in the vehicle.
CAUTION- When replacing a blown fuse or relay with a new one, make sure the new fuse or relay fits tightly into the terminals.
A loose fuse or relay may damage the electrical system and wiring of the vehicle and may cause a fire.
- Do not remove fuses, relays and terminals secured with bolts and nuts. Fuses, relays and terminals may be installed loosely, which may cause a fire. If fuses, relays or terminals secured with bolts and nuts are blown or damaged, it is recommended to consult an authorized Kia dealer.
- Do not insert any objects, such as a screwdriver or wires, into the fuse/relay terminals except for fuses or relays. This may cause a poor contact and malfunction of the system.
