Parking sensors
The parking sensor system consists of ultrasonic sensors that detect obstacles around the vehicle when entering a garage or parking parallel, with the shift lever in the reverse (R) position. This system is equipped with an assist function that notifies the driver of the approximate distance from the vehicle to the obstacle by means of an audible signal.

WARNING
Do not rely solely on the parking sensor system, and while driving, make sure there are no obstacles around the vehicle.
The system assists the driver when maneuvering forward and in reverse while parking. However, the sensor detection areas are limited, so relying solely on signals from the parking sensor system may lead to an accident. Always make sure there are no hazards around the vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not install any accessories within the sensor operating area. They may interfere with system operation.
Depending on the type of obstacle and ambient conditions, the sensor operating area may narrow or the sensors may fail to detect an obstacle.
The system may malfunction in the following situations:
The sensors are dirty with mud, ice or snow (normal operation resumes after they are cleaned).
The sensors are frozen (normal operation resumes after the ice is removed).
The sensor is covered with a hand.
The sensor has been subjected to excessive shocks.
The vehicle is tilted excessively.
At extremely high or low ambient temperatures.
The vehicle is driving over bumps, slopes, gravel or grass surfaces.
There are any ultrasonic sources near the vehicle, such as another vehicle's horn, motorcycle engine noise, the sound of air brakes on larger vehicles, or the sensors of another vehicle.
The vehicle is driving in heavy rain or on surfaces that cause water spray.
The vehicle is equipped with a radio antenna or a retractable antenna mounted in the bumper.
The vehicle is moving toward a very high or sharp-edged curb.
The obstacle is too close to the sensor.
Obstacles below the bumper may not be detected. Obstacles that do not reach bumper height or are very thin may initially be detected, but the sensors stop detecting them as the vehicle gets closer.
The following obstacles may not be detected:
Thin objects such as wire or string
Materials that easily absorb sound waves, such as cotton or snow
Objects with sharp-edged shapes
Objects that are very tall and wide at the top
Objects that are small and short
If the bumper is struck, even in a minor collision, have the sensors inspected by a specialist workshop; we recommend a Mazda Authorized Dealer. If the sensors become misaligned, they will not detect obstacles.
The system may malfunction if no audible signal is heard.
Consult a qualified service facility; we recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
The system malfunction warning tone may not sound if the ambient temperature is very low or if the sensors are dirty with mud or covered with ice or snow. Remove any dirt from the areas around the sensors.
Before installing a towing hitch, consult a specialist workshop.
We recommend an authorized Mazda dealer.
Sensor detection range
The sensors detect obstacles in the following area.

Parking sensor system operation
When the ignition switch is in the ON position and the shift lever is moved to the R position, an audible signal is generated and the system is ready for operation.
Parking sensor warning signal
When the system is active, the audible signal sounds in the following situations.
Rear sensor

*1 As the vehicle approaches an obstacle, the intermittent tone sounds at an increasing frequency.
Rear corner sensor

*1 As the vehicle approaches an obstacle, the intermittent tone sounds at an increasing frequency.
CAUTION
If an obstacle has been detected in a given zone for 6 or more seconds, the audible signal is suspended (except in the close-distance zone). If the same obstacle is detected in another zone, the corresponding audible signal sounds.
When the warning signal is active
The system indicates a malfunction by sounding an audible signal and illuminating the indicator light.
| Indicator light/Audible signal | How to check |
| No audible signal is heard. | The system may not be working properly. In this case, have your vehicle inspected by a specialist workshop as soon as possible; we recommend a Mazda Authorized Dealer. |
| The intermittent tone sounds five times. | Remove any dirt from the areas around the sensors. If the system is still malfunctioning, have the vehicle checked by a specialist workshop; we recommend a Mazda Authorized Dealer. |
