Power steering

~1min read

  • Power steering assistance works only while the engine is running. If the engine is off or the power steering is not working, you can still steer, but you will need to apply more force.

If the steering feels heavier than normal during regular driving, or you feel vibration, have the vehicle checked by a specialist. We recommend an Authorized Mazda Dealer.

  • The warning light alerts the driver to a malfunction in the system or to the system's operating conditions.
  • Depending on the malfunction or operating conditions, a warning signal may also be activated in the power steering system.

See the section "Warning and Indicator Lights" on page 4-41.

Refer to the section "Power Steering Warning Signal" on page 7-51.

    CAUTION

While the engine is running, never hold the steering wheel at full lock to the left or right for more than 5 seconds. The power steering system may be damaged.
