The compass measures the earth's magnetism and indicates the vehicle's heading.

With the ignition switch in the ON position, press the buttontel qu'indiqué dans le tableau ci-après pour activer
as shown in the table below to activate various functions of the automatic anti-glare inside rearview mirror.

Affichage de la boussole (selon l'équipement)

Refer to the "Automatic anti-glare inside rearview mirror" section in the "Pre-driving checks and adjustments" chapter for information about the automatic anti-glare function.

Affichage de la boussole (selon l'équipement)

Press the buttonenvironfor about one second with the ignition switch in the ON position to turn the compass display on or off 1 . The display shows the vehicle's heading.

N: north

E: east

S: south

W: west

If the compass displays "C", drive the vehicle in three complete circles at less than 8 km/h to calibrate the compass.

You can also calibrate the compass while driving your vehicle during your normal daily routine. The compass will be calibrated once you have completed three complete circles.

COMPASS DISPLAY

Press the buttonlorsque le commutateur
with the ignition switch in the ON position.

The direction is displayed.

Declination adjustment procedure

The difference between magnetic north and true north is called declination. In some areas, this difference can be large enough to cause inaccurate compass readings. If this occurs, you can adjust the compass for the declination of your area, if necessary.

  1. Determine your location on the zone map. Refer to the illustration.

    Note your zone number.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Press the buttonpendant cinq
for five seconds, until the entry number of the current zone is displayed.
  4. Then press the buttonreprises jusqu'à ce que le numérorepeatedly
until the entry number of the desired zone is displayed.

Release the buttonle numéroonce
the desired zone number is displayed. The compass direction will reappear after a few seconds.

NOTE:

Use zone number 5 for Hawaii.

Procédure de modification de la déclinaison

  • The compass display may show an incorrect direction if a magnet is near the compass, or if the vehicle passes through areas where the earth's magnetic field is disturbed.
  • Direction correction is performed automatically in areas where the earth's magnetic field is disturbed.

Incorrect vehicle direction display

The compass display has an automatic correction function. If the displayed direction is incorrect, follow this procedure.

  1. With the display on, press and hold the buttonsecondes. L'affichage indique for about nine
    seconds. The display shows "C".
  2. Calibrate the compass by driving three complete circles at a maximum speed of 8 km/h.
  3. The display should return to normal after this operation.
  • If the compass continues to deviate shortly after calibration, have it checked by an authorized NISSAN dealer.
  • The compass reading may be inaccurate when driving through a tunnel or on roads with particularly steep grades. (The compass reading returns once the vehicle is driving again in an area where the geomagnetism is stable.)

WARNING

  • Do not install ski racks, antennas, etc. that attach to the vehicle using magnets. These items interfere with compass operation.
  • To clean the mirror, use a paper towel or similar material with glass cleaner applied to it. Do not spray glass cleaner directly onto the mirror, as the liquid could seep into the mirror housing.
