HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver (if equipped)

~2min read

The HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver is a convenient device that combines up to three remote controls into one.

The HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver:

  • can operate most radio frequency devices such as garage doors, gates, home and office lighting, entry door locks and security systems;
  • is powered by your vehicle's battery and does not require individual batteries. The HomeLinkMD programming is not erased if your battery is disconnected or discharged.

Once your HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver has been programmed, keep the original remote control for future programming purposes (e.g., purchasing a new vehicle). If you sell your vehicle, the HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver programming must be erased for security reasons.

For more information, refer to "Programming the HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver" later in this section.

WARNING

  • Do not use the HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver with a garage door opener that does not have stop and reverse features as required by federal safety standards. (These standards apply to garage door opener models manufactured after April 1, 1982.) A garage door opener that cannot detect an object under the door while closing, automatically stop, and then reverse, does not comply with applicable federal safety standards. Using such a garage door opener increases the risk of serious injury or death.
  • During the programming procedure, your garage door or gate will open and close (if you use the transceiver within its range). Make sure nothing and nobody is within the path of the garage door, gate, etc. that you are operating while programming the transceiver.
  • Turn off the engine before programming the HomeLinkMD Universal Transceiver.
