The system should respond to commands correctly without difficulty. If problems occur, try the following solutions.

When solutions are listed by number, start with number 1 and continue until the problem is resolved.

Symptom Solution
The system does not interpret the command correctly.
  1. Make sure the command is valid. See the "Voice Command List" section in this chapter.
  2. Make sure you say the command after the beep.
  3. Speak clearly without pausing between words and at a volume appropriate for the ambient noise in the vehicle.
  4. Make sure the ambient noise level is not excessive (for example, windows open or defroster on). Note: If the noise is too loud to use the phone, voice commands will probably not be recognized.
  5. If more than one command is spoken at a time, try speaking the commands separately.
  6. If the system never recognizes commands, perform the voice training procedure to improve recognition for the speaker. See the "Voice Adaptation (AV) Mode" topic in this section.
The system always selects the wrong phone book entry.
  1. Make sure the phone book entry name matches the name originally saved. You can confirm this by using the "List Names" command. See "Phone Book" in this section.
  2. Replace one of the misinterpreted names with a new name.
