Flat Towing
Towing your vehicle with all four wheels on the ground is sometimes called "flat towing." This method is sometimes used to tow a vehicle behind a recreational vehicle, such as a motorhome.
WARNING
- If you do not follow these instructions, the transmission could be severely damaged.
- When flat towing your vehicle, always tow it forward, never backward.
- NEVER flat tow a vehicle equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with all four wheels on the ground. This WILL DAMAGE the transmission components, because they will not be properly lubricated.
- For more information on emergency towing procedures, see "NISSAN Recommended Towing Methods" in the "In Case of Emergency" chapter of this manual.
Continuously Variable Transmission
To tow a vehicle equipped with a continuously variable transmission, you MUST place the driving wheels on an appropriate tow dolly. Always follow the recommendations of the dolly manufacturer.
