Hub carrier bearing

REMOVAL
Disconnect the battery.
Remove:
- the wheel,
- the brake caliper and tie it to the spring, so as not to damage the hose,
- the steering ball joint using tool T.Av. 476,
- the driveshaft nut.
Push the driveshaft back using tool T. Av. 1050-02.
Remove:
- the brake disc,
- the nut and cotter pin of the lower ball joint,
- the two shock absorber base bolts,
- the hub/steering knuckle/bearing assembly.
Remove the hub using a press.
Extract the lower race from the hub using a jaw puller and tool Rou. 15-01.

Remove the circlip from the steering knuckle.
Press out the remaining bearing, supporting it on the inner race using a tube of the same diameter.

INSTALLATION
Press the bearing into the steering knuckle using a tube with an outer diameter of 70 mm and a bore of 66 mm, pressing on the outer race.
CAUTION: do not press on the inner race, as this would damage the bearing; the fitting force is high.

Fit a new circlip.
Apply multi-purpose grease to each bearing sealing lip.
Press on using a tube with an outer diameter of 48 mm and an inner diameter of 42 mm, pressing on the inner race of the bearing.

Refit the hub/steering knuckle/bearing assembly to the vehicle.
Then reverse the removal procedure, observing the tightening torques.
