Checking the engine oil level

L. Lower mark
F. Upper mark

Check the engine oil level with the engine warm.
PROCEDURE
1. Park the vehicle on level ground. Stop the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan.
2. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
3. Insert the dipstick fully.
4. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level by the oil film position.
5. If the level is below the lower mark, remove the filler cap and add oil of the same grade as in the engine. Add small amounts at a time and check the level periodically. Approximate amounts of oil needed to raise the level from the lower mark to the upper mark are shown in the table.
6. After adding oil, tighten the filler cap securely.
7. Do not overfill. Overfilling will damage the engine.
