If the headlights or other electrical components do not operate, check the fuses. Replace any blown fuse.

For fuse locations, refer to Subsection 1.8.

PROCEDURE
1. Turn the ignition switch off and turn off the malfunctioning component. Remove the fuse of the malfunctioning component and inspect it. The name of the circuit protected by the fuse is shown on the cover of the fuse block (see also Subsection 1.8).
2. Remove a Type A fuse with the fuse puller. If you are not sure whether the fuse is blown, replace it with a known good fuse by inserting it into the corresponding clips. The rated current of the fuse must match the value shown on the fuse block cover.
3. If no spare fuse is available, you may use fuses from the radio/cigarette lighter, moonroof or air conditioning circuits (circuit names CIG&RADIO, DOME, A/C, respectively), which are not required for driving. The rated current of these fuses must match that of the fuse being replaced.
4. If the rated current still does not match the blown fuse, install a fuse with a lower rating that is closest in value to the blown fuse. A fuse with a lower current rating may blow (but not immediately), which will indicate that the circuit is operating normally.
5. Replace the fuse with an original fuse at the first opportunity. It is advisable to buy a set of spare fuses and carry them with you.
6. If the new fuse blows immediately, the circuit is faulty. In this case, contact a Toyota service center without delay.
7. Do not install a fuse with a higher rated current or use improvised jumper wires, to prevent extensive damage or fire.
