Inspection and Repair of Cylinder Head and Its Components

PROCEDURE

Inspection and repair of the cylinder head and its components are similar to those for engines with 1.1 and 1.3 L displacement.

Differing data are given below. Cylinder head height is not measured. Side clearance between the intake and exhaust valves and the valve guide is 1.3 mm.

Valve seat dimensions A – diameter of the cylinder head bore for the seat; B – outer diameter of the valve seat; C – width of the seat contact face; D – distance from the valve head surface to the cylinder head deck

Intake valve / Exhaust valve: a max = 33.2 mm / a max = 35.2 mm; b = 30.4 mm / b = 32.8 mm; c = 2.4 mm / c = 2.0 mm; d max = 1.5 mm / d max = 1.5 mm

Valve Dimensions a – valve head diameter; b – stem diameter; c – valve length

Intake valve / Exhaust valve: a = 34.0 mm / a = 31.0 mm; b = 7.97 mm / b = 7.95 mm; c = 104.8 mm / c = 104.6 mm; c (engine with hydraulic valve lifters) = 95.0 mm / c (engine with hydraulic valve lifters) = 95.0 mm

Valve springs for hydraulic valve lifters are shorter and softer and are marked with blue paint on the side. The camshaft for engines with hydraulic valve lifters is marked with gray paint. Permissible camshaft runout, measured at the center journal – 0.01 mm.

Maximum permissible shaft clearance with bearing caps No. 1 and 5 installed – 0.15 mm. Camshaft journal diameter 26 mm, maximum permissible journal wear – 0.25 mm.
