Inspection Refer to Subsection 10.7. Removal PROCEDURE 1. Perform steps 1–7 of Subsection 10.9.2.
2. Unscrew lower bolt 29 (see illustration Rear Disc Brake). 3. Remove cylinder housing 26 and suspend it on wire, making sure the housing does not hang down and the brake hoses are not twisted. 4. Unscrew two bolts 23. 5. Remove caliper 16. 6. Remove dust cap 1 from the hub using a screwdriver. 7. Remove cotter pin 2. 8. Remove serrated washer 3. 9. Unscrew nut 4. 10. Remove washer 5. 11. Remove outer bearing 6 with inner race. 12. Remove brake disc 7. 13. Remove the inner bearing together with the seal and bushing 8 from the brake disc. 14. Press the outer bearing races out of the brake disc. 15. Unscrew bolts 9 and remove brake shield 10 together with hub 11 (if necessary). Installation PROCEDURE 1. Clean the bearing seats in brake disc 7. 2. Press the outer bearing races into the brake disc with the smaller inner diameter facing inward. 3. Lubricate the inner bearing and install it onto the inner race in the brake disc. 4. Lubricate the seal and press it into the brake disc. 5. Install bushing 8. 6. Fill the space between the bearings in the brake disc with grease. 7. Install brake disc 7 onto the hub spindle 11. 8. Lubricate outer bearing 6 and install it onto the hub spindle 11 until it contacts brake disc 7. 9. Install washer 5, making sure its tab engages the slot in the hub spindle. 10. Tighten nut 4 to 20 N·m. 11. Rotate the brake disc several turns to allow the bearings to seat. 12. Loosen nut 4, then retighten it while rotating the brake disc so the bearings do not seize. 13. Rotate the brake disc. After the bearing adjustment described in the previous steps, the disc must rotate freely and smoothly. 14. Install serrated washer 3. 15. Install cotter pin 2. 16. Fill dust cap 1 half full with grease and press it onto the hub spindle. 17. Install caliper 16 and tighten bolts 23 to 65 N·m. 18. Install brake pads 1 and 2 (see illustration Brake Pad Installation), making sure that the spring clips 3 are in the upper position and parallel to the end face of the pads.
19. Install cylinder housing 26 onto caliper 16. 20. Secure the parking brake cable. 21. Bleed the brake system.
