In certain situations, it may be difficult for City Safety to help the driver avoid a collision with crossing traffic.

Volvo XC90. Limitations of City Safety in crossing traffic

For example:

On slippery roads, when Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is actively working.

  • If the oncoming vehicle is detected at a late stage.
  • If the oncoming vehicle is partially obstructed by another vehicle or object.
  • If the headlights of the oncoming vehicle are switched off.
  • If the oncoming vehicle moves erratically, for example suddenly changing lanes at a late stage.
