Alarm system
The alarm system in the BMW 5 Series (G30) reliably protects against break-in, towing or tampering. This section explains how it works, the security options and how to deactivate individual sensors. It also covers window lifters, anti-trap protection and child safety switches, for comprehensive vehicle security.
General
When the vehicle is locked, the alarm system responds to the following changes:
- Opening a door, the bonnet or the tailgate.
- Movement inside the vehicle.
- Changing the vehicle's angle, e.g. when attempting to steal a wheel or during towing.
- Interruption of the battery voltage.
- Improper use of the on-board diagnostics (OBD) socket.
The alarm system signals these changes visually and audibly:
- Audible alarm.
- Hazard warning lights switch on.
Arming and disarming
The alarm system is armed and disarmed at the same time as the vehicle is locked and unlocked using the remote control or Comfort Access.
Opening doors while the alarm system is armed
The alarm system triggers when a door is opened if it was unlocked with the integrated key via the door lock.
Stop the alarm.
Opening the tailgate while the alarm system is armed
The tailgate can also be opened while the alarm system is armed.
When the tailgate is closed, it is locked again and monitored, provided the doors are locked. The hazard warning lights flash once.

Avoiding unintended alarms

Possible situations for an unintended alarm:

- In duplex garages.

- When animals are in the vehicle.
In such situations, the tilt alarm sensor and interior monitoring can be switched off.
