Integrated key

The integrated key of the BMW 5 Series G30 serves as a backup to the electronic remote control. This chapter describes how to open or lock doors manually, including in the event of a malfunction. The instructions also show how to use the key in the glove compartment and to deactivate the airbag, for maximum safety in any situation.

General

The driver's door can be unlocked and locked with the integrated key without the remote control.

The integrated key also fits the glove compartment.

The integrated key can be used to operate the key switch for the front passenger airbag.

Safety notes

WARNING On some country versions, unlocking from inside is only possible with special knowledge.

If people remain in the vehicle for a longer period and are exposed to extreme temperatures, there is a risk of injury or death. Do not lock the vehicle from outside when people are inside. NOTE The door lock is firmly connected to the door.

The door handle can be moved. When pulling the door handle with the integrated key inserted, the paint or the key can be damaged, creating a risk of property damage. Before pulling the outer door handle, remove the integrated key.

Removing

Press the button, arrow 1, and pull out the integrated key, arrow 2.

Unlocking/locking via the door lock

   Pull the door handle outward with the left hand and hold it.

   Insert one finger of the right hand from behind under the cover cap, press the release felt there outward, and at the same time push the cover cap to the right with the thumb of the left hand.

   Unlock or lock the door lock with the integrated key.

   

The other doors must be unlocked or locked from inside.

Alarm system

The alarm system is not armed when the vehicle is locked with the integrated key.

The alarm system triggers when the door is opened if the vehicle was unlocked via the door lock.

To stop the alarm, unlock the vehicle with the remote control, if necessary via emergency recognition of the remote control.

The integrated key of the BMW 5 Series G30/G31 provides a reliable mechanical solution for special situations. Whether the electronics fail or the batteries are empty, access to the vehicle is always guaranteed.
