Comfort Access. Securing separately

~1min read

The BMW 5 G30 offers the option of securing the luggage compartment separately, for example when using a valet parking service. This chapter explains how access to the trunk lid can be blocked using the switch in the glovebox. The emergency release is also covered, a valuable safety feature in the event of electrical faults.

The switch in the glovebox allows the trunk lid to be secured separately.

When the glovebox is locked, the trunk lid cannot be opened.

  • Trunk lid secured, arrow 1.
  • Trunk lid unsecured, arrow 2.

Slide the switch to position arrow 1. The trunk lid is secured and decoupled from the central locking system.

This is advantageous when the vehicle is parked by a valet service. The remote control can then be handed over without the integrated key.

Luggage compartment emergency release

Gepäckraumnotentriegelung

Pull the handle in the luggage compartment.

The trunk lid is unlocked.

With automatic trunk lid operation: malfunction

In the event of an electrical fault, operate the unlocked trunk lid manually, slowly and without jerky movements.

The ability to secure the trunk lid of the BMW 5 G30/G31 separately offers an additional level of security. This function is especially useful when the vehicle is used by third parties, such as valet services, and protects the luggage from unauthorized access.

Thanks to the intelligent link with the glovebox and the luggage compartment emergency release, the BMW 5 G30/G31 stays true to its philosophy here as well: comfort and safety combined perfectly.

This feature underscores the model's high standards for everyday usability and the protection of personal belongings.
