Snow Chains

BMW has tested, approved as safe, and recommended only certain snow chains. You can obtain information about them at a BMW Service Center. BMW recommends using only these chain-link snow chains. They may be used only simultaneously on both rear wheels with tires of the following sizes:
X5 4.8is: 255/55 R18; all other models: 235/65 R17.
When installing, observe the manufacturer's instructions. With snow chains fitted, the maximum permissible speed is 50 km/h.
Do not perform tire damage indicator initialization with snow chains fitted.
When driving with snow chains, it may be advisable to temporarily deactivate DSC, see
page 98.
