Break-in
Observe the instructions below. This will extend the service life of the vehicle and make its operation more economical.
Engine and Final Drive, mileage up to 2000 km:
Run in the vehicle at various engine speeds and road speeds, but make sure that engine speed and road speed do not exceed the following values:
► vehicles with 6-cylinder petrol engines: 4500 rpm and 160 km/h; 8-cylinder: 4500 rpm and 170 km/h;
► vehicles with diesel engines: 3500 rpm and 150 km/h.
Observe the speed limits in effect in the country of travel.
When using the accelerator pedal, avoid full-load positions and Kick-Down.
When mileage exceeds 2000 km, engine speed and road speed can be gradually increased.
Tires: The grip of new tires on the road surface becomes optimal only after running in, due to their manufacturing technology. Therefore, drive with restraint during the first 300 km.
Brakes: Brake pads and discs bed in optimally after approximately 500 km.
Clutch: The clutch begins to operate optimally after 500 km. Until running-in is complete, engage the clutch as smoothly as possible.
After replacing components and parts: These running-in rules should also be followed after replacing the above components and parts.
