Seat Belt Use by Pregnant Women

~1min read

Seat belts are intended for everyone, including pregnant women.

Unlike other occupants, pregnant women are at greater risk of serious injury in a collision if the seat belt is not worn. In addition, a properly worn seat belt helps protect the unborn child in a collision.

For maximum protection, a pregnant woman should use the three-point seat belt.

On a pregnant woman, the lap portion of the seat belt should be positioned as low as possible across the hips.
