Three-Point Seat Belts
To reduce the risk of injury in collisions and sudden maneuvers, your vehicle is equipped with three-point seat belts.
Both front seats, both outboard rear seats, and the center rear seat are equipped with diagonal lap-and-shoulder seat belts. These seat belts are anchored at three points and hold the driver and passengers who are seated correctly and buckled in place.
A three-point seat belt with an inertia reel does not require length adjustment and allows freedom of movement at a constant vehicle speed.
However, in the event of a sudden or sharp stop, or high acceleration or deceleration, the seat belt locks automatically to hold the occupant's body in place.
Always fasten the seat belts properly:
1. Close and lock the doors.
2. Return the seat back to the upright position.
3. Take the seat belt latch plate and pull the belt across your body. Make sure the belt is not twisted. If the belt locks when pulled out, allow it to retract into the reel. Pull the seat belt out again to a comfortable length that fits snugly.

4. The shoulder belt should cross the middle of the shoulder and the chest. The shoulder belt must never cross the neck. In a collision, the correct position of this belt distributes the load across the shoulders and prevents contact with the ribs and neck, reducing the risk of serious injury to internal tissues and organs.
5. The lap belt should lie low and snugly across the hips, not ride up onto the waist. In a collision, the correct position of this belt distributes the load across the pelvic area and prevents contact with the abdomen, reducing the risk of serious injury to internal tissues and organs.
6. Firmly insert the belt tongue into the buckle until the latch mechanism clicks. Make sure the belt is securely latched in its buckle. The release button on the buckle must be positioned so that it can be pressed quickly if necessary.

7. Pull on the belt tongue to check that it is securely latched.
To unfasten the seat belt, press the release button on the buckle. The belt will retract automatically. When the belt retracts, guide it by hand to prevent the tongue from damaging interior surfaces or injuring occupants.
