Daewoo Nexia: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
2. MOUNTING BOLT WITH WASHER
The TPS is mounted on the throttle body on the side opposite
the throttle lever. The TPS converts the angle of rotation
of the throttle valve into an electrical signal supplied to the ECU input. The throttle position
is taken into account by the ECU when determining injector opening duration. At full throttle opening, the ECU provides maximum fuel delivery through all four injectors by increasing injector opening duration or control pulse frequency. The TPS is connected to the throttle valve shaft, whose movement is transmitted from the accelerator pedal.
To convert the throttle valve rotation angle into an electrical signal,
a potentiometer is used, supplied by the ECU with a 5 V reference voltage. When the throttle valve rotates, the electrical resistance of the potentiometer changes and
the TPS output signal voltage changes. Based on the TPS signal value, the ECU calculates
the current throttle valve position.
