Fuel Distribution Pipe

GENERAL INFORMATION.

Warning.

Do not attempt to remove the inlet fitting, as its connection to the

fuel rail is non-separable. This may result in

damage to parts.

When removing the fuel rail assembly from the engine,

use care to avoid damaging the electrical connectors and injector spray tips.

Protect the openings of fuel lines and fuel system components from

dust and dirt. During service and repair, plug the openings with

plugs and cover the fittings with caps.

Clean.

Before removal, clean the outside of the fuel rail

with aerosol engine cleaner. Do not immerse the fuel rail in liquid solvent.

Warning.

Before disconnecting the fittings, relieve the fuel pressure in the system and fuel rail.

Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Crankcase ventilation hose from the camshaft cover.

3. Fuel injector electrical connectors (4 pcs.).

Warning.

When removing the lines, use a second wrench to

hold the fittings from turning. Otherwise, damage to the

fuel rail or O-rings may occur.

4. Fuel supply line.

5. Fuel pressure regulator return line.

6. Vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator.

7. Fuel rail clamps (2 pcs.).

8. Fuel rail.

Disassembly.

Warning.

If the injector was removed from the fuel rail and left in the

intake manifold, both O-rings and the clip must be replaced.

PROCEDURE.

1. Remove and discard the O-ring from the injector spray tip.

injector. If the injector was removed from the fuel rail, remove both O-rings.

2. Remove the injector clips as necessary.

3. Seal retainers and seals of the fuel supply and return line fittings. To remove the seal retainers, use a

small screwdriver. Discard the retainers and seals.

Assembly.

PROCEDURE.

1. Lubricate the new O-rings with engine oil and install them on the

injector.

2. Remove the injector clips as necessary.

3. New seal retainers and seals of the fuel supply and

return line fittings.

4. Press in the retainers with seals.

5. New seals (2 pcs.) of the fuel return line fitting.

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. If the injectors were removed, install them in their

seats in the fuel rail.

2. Install the clips on the injectors. The clip must be positioned parallel to the

electrical connector.

3. Insert the injector assemblies into the fuel rail seats so that the clips and electrical connectors face outward. Align the injector with the seat, engage the clip with the protrusions of the seat, and then fully push the injector into the seat until it stops.

4. If the fuel lines were removed, connect them to the

fuel rail and pressure regulator. Tighten the fittings.

fuel supply and return lines. To prevent the pressure regulator body from turning, use a second wrench on the flats provided on the body. Tighten the inlet fitting nut. To prevent the

inlet fitting from turning, use a second wrench.

5. Install the fuel rail on the engine cylinder head.

6. Bolts (2 pcs.) securing the fuel rail. Tighten the bolts

fuel rail mounting bolts.

7. Injector electrical connectors. Position the injectors so the wires are not

stretched.

8. Crankcase ventilation hose to the camshaft cover.

9. Vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator cover.

10. Negative battery cable.

Inspection.

PROCEDURE.

Turn the ignition on and, without starting the engine, check the fuel line connections for leaks.
