Throttle Body
GENERAL INFORMATION

Throttle Body
1. GASKET.
10. THROTTLE BODY.
13. IDLE SPEED LIMIT SCREW PROTECTIVE CAP.
16. IDLE SPEED LIMIT SCREW.
17. IDLE SPEED LIMIT SCREW SPRING.
20. THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR.
21. TPS MOUNTING SCREW.
70. IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) VALVE.
72. O-RING.
73. IAC VALVE MOUNTING SCREW.
Components installed in the throttle body can be replaced.
without removing the throttle body from the engine. However, to replace the throttle body assembly,
it must be removed from the vehicle.
Clean.
PROCEDURE.
Deposits on the air intake duct walls and the throttle valve must be removed using carburetor cleaner and a lint-free cloth. Do not use
cleaners containing methyl or ethyl compounds, or similar cleaners.
These cleaners are very aggressive and are not necessary for removing light
deposits from the throttle body. Metal parts may be
cleaned after disassembly by immersing them in solvent..
Warning.
The throttle position sensor and the idle air control valve must not
come into contact with solvents or cleaners, as this will lead to
damage to the components..
Remove or disconnect:
PROCEDURE.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Partially drain the coolant from the radiator to disconnect the hoses from the throttle body..
3. Vacuum hoses from the throttle body..
4. TPS and IAC valve electrical connectors..
5. Air intake duct from the throttle body..
6. Coolant supply and return hoses from the throttle body.
7. Throttle cable from the accelerator pedal and the cruise control actuator.
..
8. Unscrew the throttle body mounting bolts..
9. Throttle body together with the gasket. Discard the gasket..
10. Clean the parts..
Warning.
When cleaning the mating surfaces of the parts to remove gasket residue,
use caution..
Installation
PROCEDURE.
1. Throttle body with a new gasket..
2. Install the mounting bolts. Tighten the throttle body mounting bolts..
3. Throttle cable to the accelerator pedal and the cruise control actuator.
..
Warning.
Make sure that the throttle cables to the accelerator pedal and the cruise control actuator allow the throttle valve to
fully close.
..
4. Coolant hoses to the throttle body..
5. Air intake duct to the throttle body..
6. TPS and IAC valve electrical connectors..
7. Vacuum hoses to the throttle body..
8. Refill the radiator with coolant..
9. Negative battery cable..
Inspection
PROCEDURE.
With the engine off, fully depress and release the accelerator pedal to check that the throttle valve moves freely..
Warning.
After installing the throttle body on the engine, no adjustment of the IAC valve is required. The IAC valve closing position is calibrated automatically by the ECM after the vehicle accelerates to a speed above 48
km/h.
km/h.
