Safe-lock device (where fitted)

~1min read
Safe-lock-vorrichtung

It is a security device that locks the following functions:

  • Interior door handles;
  • Lock/unlock button fig. 13 on the centre panel;

thereby preventing the doors from being opened from inside in the event of an attempted break-in (for example, a smashed window).

The Safe-lock device is therefore the best possible protection against break-in attempts.

It is therefore advisable to activate it when parking the vehicle.

Note

Once the Safe-lock device is activated, the doors cannot be opened from inside the vehicle in any way. Before getting out, make sure that no one is left in the vehicle.

Note

If the battery in the remote control key is flat, the device can only be activated by inserting the metal insert of the key into the door lock, as described above. In this case, however, the device is only activated for the rear doors.

Activating the device

The device switches on automatically for all doors when the button is pressed twiceon the remote control key.

Activation of the function is indicated by three flashes of the turn indicators and by the LED on the door locking button on the dashboard flashing (see the table on the following page).

The device will not switch on if one or more doors are not properly closed. This prevents a person from getting into the vehicle through the open door and then remaining locked inside once the door is closed.

Deactivating the device

The device switches on automatically for all doors in the following cases:

  • When the doors are unlocked;
  • When the ignition key is turned to MAR.

The main functions that can be activated using the keys (with and without remote control) are summarised below:
