At the filling station

Petrol engines

Use only unleaded petrol.

To prevent misfuelling, the diameter of the filler neck is too small to insert the fuel nozzle for leaded petrol.

The minimum octane rating (RON) of the petrol used must not be below 95.

Please note: an inoperative catalytic converter causes emission of pollutants and therefore harms the environment.

Please note: never pour leaded petrol into the tank, not even in emergencies and not even in small quantities.

This would irreparably damage the catalytic converter.

Diesel engines

At low outside temperatures, the flowability of diesel fuel may become insufficient due to paraffin separation, causing abnormal operation of the fuel supply system.

To avoid malfunctions, summer, winter or arctic-region diesel fuels (for cold/mountain areas) are available commercially depending on the season.

If diesel that does not match the operating temperatures has been refuelled, it is recommended to mix the diesel fuel with the Tutela Diesel Art additive in the ratio indicated on the product container. The flow improver is poured into the tank first, then the diesel.

For prolonged use or standstill of the vehicle in cold/mountain areas, refuelling with locally available diesel is recommended. In this situation, it is also recommended to leave more than 50% of the usable fuel quantity in the tank.

Diesel vehicles
can only be refuelled with diesel fuel conforming to the European standard EN590. Using other products or mixtures may irreparably damage the engine, and damage caused as a result will void the warranty. If the wrong fuel is put in by accident, do not start the engine; drain the tank. If the engine has been run even for a very short time, the entire fuel supply system must be drained in addition to the tank. Refilling

To ensure the tank is completely full, top up twice after the fuel nozzle first clicks off.

Avoid further top-ups, which could cause malfunctions of the fuel supply system.

Fuel filler cap fig. 108
Tankverschluss

To refuel, open flap a, then unscrew cap b. The cap is fitted with a retaining device c that connects it to the fuel flap so that it cannot be lost.

Cap b is fitted with a lock and key: to open, open flap a and unlock with the ignition key, turning the key anticlockwise, then unscrew the cap.

When refuelling, hang the cap on the device fitted inside the fuel flap, as shown in the illustration.

Please note: the sealed fuel tank cap may cause a slight pressure build-up. A hissing noise when unscrewing the cap is therefore normal.

After refuelling, screw the cap clockwise until one or more clicks are heard, then turn the key clockwise and remove it, and close the fuel flap again.

Note

Do not approach the fuel filler neck with an open flame: fire hazard. Also do not bring your face too close to the filler neck, to avoid inhaling harmful vapours.
