Trip computer

~3min read
General

The "trip computer" displays operating data of the vehicle when the ignition key is turned to MAR. This function consists of two separate trips, "TRIP A" and "TRIP B", which can independently record the "total distance travelled" of the vehicle (journey).

Both functions can be reset (reset - start of a new journey).

"TRIP A" displays the following values:

  • range
  • distance travelled
  • average fuel consumption
  • instantaneous fuel consumption
  • average speed
  • travel time (journey time).

"TRIP B" displays the following values:

  • distance travelled B
  • average fuel consumption B
  • average speed B
  • travel time B (journey time).

Note: The "TRIP B" function can be switched off (see section "Switching on TRIP B"). The "range" and "instantaneous fuel consumption" values cannot be reset.

Displayed values Range

It indicates the distance that can still be travelled with the fuel remaining in the tank, assuming the vehicle continues to be driven in the same way. The display shows "----" in the following situations:

  • range below 50 km (or 30 mi)
  • when the vehicle has been stationary with the engine running for an extended period.

The range value may vary depending on various factors: driving style (see the paragraph "Driving style" in the chapter "Starting and driving"), road conditions (motorway, city, mountain roads, etc.), and vehicle operating conditions (load carried, tyre pressure, etc.). When planning a journey, the conditions mentioned above should therefore be taken into account.

See the section "Driving style" in the chapter "Starting and driving". Consider the road type (motorway, city, mountain roads, etc.) and the vehicle operating conditions (load carried, tire pressure, etc.). When planning a trip, take the conditions mentioned above into consideration.

Distance travelled

Distance travelled since the start of the new journey.

Average fuel consumption

This is an average evaluation of fuel consumption since the start of the new journey.

Instantaneous fuel consumption

It indicates the constantly updated change in fuel consumption. When the vehicle is stopped with the engine running, the display shows "----".

Average speed

The average speed represents the average value of vehicle speed based on the total time elapsed since the start of the new journey.

Travel time

Time elapsed since the start of the new journey.

TRIP button fig. 26
Bedientaste trip

The TRIP button on the top of the right-hand lever allows access to the values described above, as well as resetting the values to start a new journey, when the ignition key is turned to MAR:

  • briefly press to access the displays of the various values;
  • press and hold to reset and then start a new journey.
New journey

Resetting occurs:

  • "manually" by the user by pressing the corresponding button;
  • "automatically" when the "distance travelled" reaches 9999.9 km, or when the "travel time" reaches 99:59 (99 hours and 59 minutes);
  • after each disconnection and subsequent reconnection of the battery.

Note: When resetting while the "TRIP A" displays are shown, only the values of this function are reset.

Note: When resetting while the "TRIP B" displays are shown, only the values of this function are reset.

Procedure at the start of a journey

With the ignition key at MAR, perform the reset by pressing and holding the TRIP button for more than 2 seconds.

Exiting TRIP

You exit the TRIP function automatically after all values have been displayed, or by pressing and holding the MODE button for more than 1 second.
