Mobile Device Data
If you connect a mobile device to the vehicle, you can display data from your device on the touchscreen, such as music and album covers. You can share your vehicle data with mobile applications on your device through the system.
The mobile application function is managed by your connected device, which sends data to us in the United States. The data is encrypted and includes, for example, your vehicle identification number, SYNC module serial number, odometer, enabled applications, usage statistics and debugging information. We keep this data only as long as necessary to provide the service, to troubleshoot, to continuously improve, and to offer you products and services that may interest you according to your preferences and where permitted by law.
If you connect a mobile phone to the system, the system creates a profile that is linked to that mobile phone. The mobile phone profile enables more mobile features and efficient operation. The profile contains, for example, phone book data, read and unread text messages and call history, including call history recorded when your mobile phone was not connected to the system.
When a multimedia device is connected, the system creates and stores an index of the supported media content on the media device. The system also records a short diagnostic log of approximately 10 minutes of all recent system activity.
The mobile phone profile, multimedia device index and diagnostic log remain in your vehicle unless you delete them, and they are normally accessible only in your vehicle when you connect your mobile phone or multimedia device. If you no longer plan to use the system or your vehicle, we recommend using the master reset function to erase the stored information.
Access to system data is not possible without special equipment and access to the vehicle module.
