Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor™

Your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Oil-Life system. This monitor determines when you should change the engine oil based on how you use your vehicle. By factoring in several important variables in its calculations, the monitor helps reduce the cost of owning your vehicle and reduces environmental waste at the same time.

This means you do not need to remember to change the oil according to a mileage schedule. Your vehicle will notify you when an oil change is due by displaying a message in the information display.

The following table shows examples of vehicle use and its effect on oil change intervals. This is a recommendation only. Actual oil change intervals depend on several factors and generally decrease as severity of use increases.

Ford Escape. Normal Scheduled Maintenance

1 Hybrid vehicles may travel long distances between oil changes, but do not exceed the maximum oil change interval of 1 year. The remaining oil life can be accessed through the information display.

Normal Maintenance Intervals

Ford Escape. Normal Scheduled Maintenance

1 No more than one year or 10,000 miles (16,000 km) between service intervals.

Ford Escape. Normal Scheduled Maintenance

2 After the initial inspection, check every second oil change until replacement.

3 If not replaced within the last 100,000 miles (160,000 km).

4 Initial replacement at 10 years or 200,000 miles (322,000 km), then every five years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km).
