Pre-Collision Assist Precautions
Caution You are responsible for constantly monitoring your vehicle. The system is designed to assist and does not relieve you of the responsibility to drive with due care and attention. Failure to follow this instruction may result in loss of vehicle control, personal injury, or death.
Warning The system does not detect vehicles traveling in the opposite direction, cyclists, or animals. Apply the brakes as necessary. Failure to follow this instruction could result in loss of vehicle control, personal injury, or death.
The system does not operate during rapid acceleration or steering. Failure to observe this caution could result in an accident or personal injury.
The system may fail or operate with reduced functionality in cold and severe weather conditions. Snow, ice, rain, road spray, and fog adversely affect the system. Keep the front camera and radar clear of snow and ice. Failure to observe this caution could result in loss of vehicle control, serious personal injury, or death.
Exercise extreme caution if your vehicle is heavily loaded or you are towing a trailer. These conditions may reduce the performance of this system. Failure to follow this warning may result in loss of control of your vehicle, personal injury or death.
The system cannot help prevent all collisions. Do not rely on this system to replace driver judgment and the need to maintain a safe following distance and speed.
In situations where the camera has limited detection capability, system performance may be reduced. These situations include, but are not limited to: direct or low sunlight, vehicles at night without taillights, non-traditional types of vehicles, pedestrians with complex backgrounds, running pedestrians, partially obscured pedestrians, or pedestrians that the system cannot distinguish from a group. Failure to follow this warning may result in loss of control of your vehicle, serious personal injury or death.
Pre-Collision Assist Limitations
Pre-Collision Assist depends on the detection capability of its camera and sensors. Any obstructions or damage in these areas may limit detection or prevent the system from operating.
The system is active at speeds above 3 mph (5 km/h ).
NOTE The Pre-Collision Assist system is disabled when you select four-wheel drive low range or manually turn off AdvanceTrac™.
Brake Support and Automatic Emergency Braking are active at speeds up to 75 mph (120 km/h ). If your vehicle has a radar sensor and Adaptive Cruise Control is enabled, Brake Support and Automatic Emergency Braking operate up to the maximum vehicle speed.
Pedestrian Detection Limitations
Pedestrian Detection is active at speeds up to 80 km/h .
Pedestrian Detection performs best when detected objects are clearly identifiable. System performance may be reduced in situations where pedestrians are running, partially hidden, have a complex background, or cannot be distinguished from a group.
