Battery Replacement

1. Disconnect both cables from the battery.

Always disconnect the negative cable first and connect it last. If the vehicle's radio is equipped with an anti-theft code, make sure you have the correct code before disconnecting the battery!

2. Loosen the fasteners and remove the battery hold-down clamp from the battery tray.

3. Remove the battery from the battery tray.

Special battery carrier straps with handles are available. Using these straps greatly simplifies removing the battery from the engine compartment.
4. Carefully inspect the battery tray for signs of corrosion.
5. If necessary, remove the fasteners and take the battery tray out of the engine compartment to remove corrosion and apply appropriate protective treatment to the metal (use zinc-based primer).
6. When replacing, make sure the new battery matches your vehicle's performance requirements.
7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
