Low Tyre Pressure Warning Light

This indicator performs the following two functions:
1. When the indicator comes on, it warns of a possible significant loss of pressure in one of the vehicle's tires. The following symbol is also displayed on the multi-information display:
which may be accompanied by the message "CHECK TYRE PRESSURE".
Stop the vehicle as soon as possible, check the tire pressure, and adjust it to the values specified on the placard located on the driver's door jamb.
If you determine that you can safely drive a short distance to a service station, drive at low speed and inflate the tire to the recommended pressure. Then perform the Tire Pressure Monitoring System initialization procedure.
If a tire is completely flat, or the tire pressure is too low to continue driving, replace the flat tire with the compact spare tire. If the vehicle is equipped with a tire repair kit, use it.
Do not initialize the Tire Pressure Monitoring System when a compact spare tire is installed on the vehicle. After replacing the compact spare tire with a full-size tire, perform the Tire Pressure Monitoring System initialization procedure. If your vehicle is equipped with a Honda tire repair kit, initialize the system after repairing the damaged tire.
If the tire pressure low indicator does not turn off and the corresponding symbol or message does not disappear from the multi-information display after inflating the tires to the correct pressure and performing the tire pressure monitoring system initialization procedure, have the system checked by your dealer as soon as possible.
Continuing to drive with a significantly underinflated tire causes the tire to overheat, which may result in tire failure. Low tire pressure also reduces fuel economy, increases tread wear, shortens tire life, and adversely affects vehicle handling and braking performance.
Since tire pressure depends on temperature and other conditions, the tire pressure low indicator may come on unexpectedly or with a delay.
2. If the indicator flashes, this indicates a malfunction in the tire pressure monitoring system.
After approximately 1 minute, the indicator stops flashing and remains on steadily. In this case, the following symbol appears on the multi-information display:
This may be accompanied by the message "CHECK SYSTEM."
In this situation, the tire pressure monitoring system is deactivated and can no longer monitor tire pressure. Have the vehicle inspected at an authorized dealer service center as soon as possible.
The indicator may also come on together with the ABS or VSA warning light if a malfunction is detected in these systems. In this case, have the vehicle inspected at a dealer service center as soon as possible.
To properly activate the tire pressure monitoring system:
• The tires installed on the vehicle must fully meet the factory requirements for type and size and be in good serviceable condition. Tread wear must not exceed the limit values.
Tire pressure must match the recommended values. For tire pressure check information, refer to page 484.
• If the tire pressure low indicator comes on, initialize the tire pressure monitoring system after inflating the tires to the correct pressure.
If the tire pressure monitoring system is not initialized properly, it may malfunction and activate when not required, or fail to activate when required.
The tire pressure low indicator may come on unexpectedly in the following situations:
• When using a temporary spare tire.
• When using snow chains.
• When tire pressure is too high.
• When there is a significant difference in load between the wheels.
• When the wheels are overloaded, or under severe driving conditions such as towing a trailer.
• When the vehicle load changes significantly from the load at the time of system initialization.
The tire pressure low indicator may not come on in the following situations:
• When two or more tires are underinflated.
• When tire pressure drops significantly and rapidly.
• When driving on snowy or slippery roads.
• When the vehicle is parked.
• When driving below 25 km/h.
• When driving at very high speeds.
• During rapid acceleration or deceleration, or sharp steering wheel turns.
• When using snow chains.
• When the VSA system is activated.
• When the brake pedal is depressed.
