Tire Replacement

If a tire wears evenly, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread. This shows that less than 1/16 in (1.6 mm) of tread remains on the tire. Replace the tire when this occurs.
Do not wait until the tread surface is level with the tread wear indicators before replacing the tire.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY:
- Replace worn tires, or tires that show uneven wear or damage. Worn tires can result in loss of braking effectiveness, handling, and traction.
- Always replace tires with the same size as each tire originally supplied with this vehicle. Using tires and wheels other than the recommended sizes may result in unusual handling characteristics, poor vehicle control, or adversely affect your vehicle's anti-lock brake system (ABS), which may lead to a serious accident.
- Tires age over time, even if they are not used. Regardless of remaining tread depth, HYUNDAI recommends replacing tires after six (6) years of normal service.
- When replacing tires, it is recommended to replace the two front or two rear tires as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect your vehicle's handling. If only one pair of tires is replaced, it is recommended to install the new tires on the rear axle.
- Heat caused by hot climates or frequent heavy loads can accelerate the aging process. Failure to follow this warning may result in sudden tire failure, which may lead to loss of vehicle control and an accident.
Compact Spare Tire Replacement
The compact spare tire has a shorter tread life than a standard-size tire. Replace it when the tread wear indicator bars appear on the tire. The replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the one supplied with your vehicle and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. The compact spare tire is not designed for use on a standard-size wheel, and a standard-size tire is not designed for use on the compact spare wheel.
WARNING
The original tire should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid failure of the temporary spare and loss of vehicle control, which may lead to an accident. Use the compact spare tire for emergencies only. Do not drive your vehicle more than 80 km/h when using the compact spare.
