Low-Aspect-Ratio Tires

~1min read

Tires with an aspect ratio below 50 are low-aspect-ratio tires.

Because low-aspect-ratio tires are optimized for handling and braking, their sidewalls are slightly stiffer than standard tires. Low-aspect-ratio tires are also generally wider and therefore have a larger contact patch with the road surface. In some cases they may generate more road noise compared to standard tires.

CAUTION

Because the sidewall of a low-aspect-ratio tire is shorter than that of a standard tire, the wheel rim and the tire itself are more easily damaged. Drive carefully and follow the recommendations below to minimize damage to the wheel and tire:

  • When driving on rough roads or off-road, drive carefully because tires and wheels may be damaged. Inspect the tires and wheels after driving.
  • When driving over a pothole, speed bump, curb, or manhole, slow down so the tires and wheels are not damaged.
  • If the tire or wheel has been subjected to a severe impact, have the tire and wheel inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • Inspect the tire condition and tire pressure every 1,800 miles (3,000 km).

CAUTION

  • Tire damage is not always easy to see. However, if there is any sign of tire damage, have the tire inspected or replaced. Damage to the tire may cause air to leak from the tire.
  • Damage to the tire caused by driving on rough roads, off-road, over potholes, manholes, or curbs is not covered by the warranty.
