When you stop for fuel:
- Check the engine oil level.
- Check the engine coolant level in the engine coolant reservoir.
- Check the windshield washer fluid level.
- Check the tires for low or insufficient pressure.
WARNING
Be careful when checking the engine coolant level while the engine is hot. Coolant may spray out of the reservoir and cause serious burns and other injuries.
While operating the vehicle:
- Pay attention to any changes in the exhaust sound or any smell of exhaust fumes in the vehicle.
- Check for steering wheel vibration. Check for excessive steering wheel effort or looseness in the steering, or a change in straight-ahead position.
- Note if your vehicle constantly drifts slightly or "pulls" to one side when driving on a smooth, level road.
- When stopping, listen for and check for unusual noises, pulling to one side, increased brake pedal travel, or a "heavy" brake pedal.
- If any slipping or changes in transmission operation occur, check the transmission fluid level.
- Check the automatic transmission/dual clutch transmission P (Park) function.

- Check the engine coolant level in the coolant reservoir.
- Check the operation of all exterior lights, including brake lights, turn signals, and hazard warning lights.
- Check the inflation pressure of all tires, including the spare, for wear, uneven wear, or damage.
- Check whether the wheel mounting nuts are loose.
At least twice a year: (i.e., every spring and fall)
- Check the radiator, heater, and A/C hoses for leaks or damage.
- Check the windshield washer nozzles and wiper operation. Clean the wiper blades with a clean cloth dampened with washer fluid.
- Check the headlight aim.
- Check the muffler, exhaust pipes, heat shields, and clamps.
- Check the seat belts for wear and proper function.
