Driving Your Vehicle

System Warning

~1min read
  • If you attempt to drive while the accelerator pedal is depressed with the EPB applied but the EPB does not release automatically, a warning will sound and a message will appear.
  • If the driver's seat belt is not fastened and the hood, driver's door, or trunk is open, a warning will sound and a message will appear.
  • If there is a problem with the vehicle, a warning may sound and a message may appear.

If the above situation occurs, depress the brake pedal and release the EPB by pressing the EPB switch.

WARNING

  • To prevent unintended movement when stopping and exiting the vehicle, do not use the shift lever instead of the parking brake. Apply the parking brake and make sure the shift lever is securely locked in P (Park).
  • Never allow anyone unfamiliar with the vehicle to touch the parking brake. If the parking brake is released unintentionally, serious injury may result.
  • Always fully apply the parking brake when parking the vehicle to avoid unintended movement that may injure passengers or pedestrians.

CAUTION

  • A click or the sound of the electric brake motor may be heard when operating or releasing the EPB. These conditions are normal and indicate that the EPB is operating properly.
  • When leaving the keys with a valet or parking attendant, be sure to tell them how to operate the EPB.
  • The EPB may be damaged if you drive with the EPB applied.
  • When the EPB is released automatically by depressing the accelerator pedal, depress it slowly.
