Repair Procedures

Removal

  1. Shift the transmission to "N".

  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air duct.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Air Cleaner")

  3. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - Battery)

  4. Remove the shift cable (A) from the bracket by loosening the nut (B).

  5. Remove the knob (A) by pulling it in the direction of the arrow after removing the boot from the upper console cover.

  6. Remove the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body - Floor Console Assembly)

  7. Remove the shift cable from the shift lever pin after releasing the clip (A).

  8. Remove the cable connector (A) from the shift lever.

  9. Remove the shift cable bracket (A) after loosening the nuts (B).

    Then remove the shift cable by pulling it toward the vehicle interior.

Installation

  1. Before installation, insert the "N range locking pin" (A) into the shift lever after confirming that the shift lever and manual control lever are in the "N" position.

  2. Install the shift cable bracket (A) by tightening the nuts (B).

    Tightening torque: 11.8–14.7 N·m

  3. Install the cable connector (A).

  4. Install the shift cable onto the lever pin, then insert the lock pin (A).

  5. Be sure to remove the "N range locking pin" (A) after installing the shift lever assembly.

  6. Install the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body - Floor Console Assembly)

  7. Install the knob (A) by pressing it in the direction of the arrow after installing the boot to the upper console cover.

  8. Install the shift cable (A) onto the bracket, then loosely tighten the nut (B).

  9. Tighten the nut (B) to the specified torque after eliminating the play, while pressing the shift cable (A) in the direction indicated by the arrow.

    Tightening Torque: 9.8–14.7 N·m

  10. Install the battery and battery tray.

  11. Install the air cleaner assembly and air duct.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Air Cleaner")
