Tire Rotation
To equalize tread wear, it is recommended that the tires be rotated every 12,000 km (7,500 miles), or sooner if uneven wear develops.
When rotating, check the tires for proper balance.
When rotating tires, check for uneven wear and damage. Abnormal wear is usually caused by incorrect tire pressure, incorrect wheel alignment, unbalanced wheels, hard braking, or hard cornering. Look for bulges or bumps on the tread or sidewall. Replace the tire if you find any of these conditions. Replace the tire if fabric or cord is visible. After rotation, be sure to adjust the front and rear tire pressures to specification and check wheel nut torque.
Refer to "Jacking and Wheels" in Chapter 8.

Disc brake pads must be checked for wear whenever the tires are rotated.
Rotate radial tires with an asymmetrical tread pattern only from front to rear, not side to side.
WARNING - Mixing Tires
- Do not use the compact spare tire (if equipped) for tire rotation.
- Never mix bias-ply and radial-ply tires on the vehicle. This may cause unusual handling characteristics.
