Description and Operation

Description

The A/C pressure sensor measures the pressure in the high-pressure line and converts it into a voltage. Based on the converted voltage, the ECM controls the cooling fan operation at high or low speed. The ECM stops the compressor when the refrigerant line temperature is too high or too low to optimize the air conditioning system.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Measure the high-side line pressure by measuring the output voltage between terminals "1" and "2".

  2. Check whether the voltage is within specification.

  3. If the measured voltage is not within specification, replace the pressure sensor.

    Voltage = 0.00878835 * Pressure + 0.37081095

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. Recover the refrigerant using a recovery/recharging station.

  3. Disconnect the air conditioner pressure sensor connector (A).

  4. Remove the A/C pressure sensor (B).

    Tightening torque: 10 – 12 N·m

  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
