Photo Sensor
Description and Operation
Description
The photo sensor is located in the center of the defroster nozzles.
The photo sensor contains a photovoltaic (sunlight-sensitive) diode. Solar radiation received by its light-receiving part generates an electromotive force proportional to the amount of radiation received, which is then transmitted to the automatic temperature control module so that solar radiation compensation can be performed.
Repair Procedures
Inspection
Turn the ignition on.
Connect the KDS/GDS.
Direct intense light onto the photo sensor using a lamp, and check the change in output voltage.
The voltage increases with higher light intensity and decreases with lower light intensity.

1. Auto light ground
2. Auto light power (5 V)
3. Auto light signal4. Photo signal (RH)
5. Photo power
6. Photo signal (LH)
Replacement
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
Using a scraper or remover, remove the center airbag speaker grille (A).

Disconnect the airbag connector (A) and the auto light and photo sensor connector (B).

Remove the auto light sensor (A) after releasing the fixing hooks.
