Propeller Shaft
Repair Procedures
Inspection
CV Joint and Boots
Shift the transmission lever to the neutral position.
Raise the vehicle and support it on safety stands at the proper locations.
Check the center bearing (A) for excessive play or rattling and for rubber cracks. If the center bearing has excessive play or rattling, or the rubber has cracks, replace the propeller shaft assembly.

Check the CV joint boot for damage and wear. If the boot is damaged or worn, replace the propeller shaft assembly.
Check the CV joint for excessive play or rattling. If the CV joint has excessive play or rattling, replace the propeller shaft assembly.
Inspect Flexible Coupling
Check the front and rear flexible couplings for cracks or damage.
Inspect the flexible coupling centering sleeve. If the sleeve is damaged, replace the propeller shaft assembly.

Universal Joint Inspection
Check that the universal joint bearing rotates smoothly.
Check the spider bearing for play. If necessary, replace the propeller shaft.

Driveshaft Runout
Install the dial indicator so that its plunger contacts the center of the front propeller shaft or rear propeller shaft.
Slowly rotate the propeller shaft and check the runout. Repeat this procedure for the other propeller shaft.
Front propeller shaft runout: 0.3 mm (0.012 in.)
