Filter Replacement The filter must be replaced when necessary; it cannot be cleaned.

The filter element can be cleaned when it is inspected.

Clean the filter with compressed air.

1. Release the air cleaner cover clips and open the cover.

2. Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp using a screwdriver.
3. Clean the inside of the air cleaner housing.
4. Replace the air filter.
5. Secure the cover with the clips.

Replace the filter as specified in the Scheduled Maintenance.

If the vehicle is used in extremely dusty or sandy environments, the filter element must be replaced more frequently than the normal maintenance intervals. (See "Severe Operating Conditions Maintenance" in this section.)

WARNING

  • Do not drive the vehicle with the air filter removed; this will cause excessive engine wear.
  • When removing the filter element, take care that dust or dirt does not enter the air intake system, otherwise damage may occur.
  • Use a genuine Kia replacement part.

The use of non-genuine parts could damage the mass air flow sensor.
