Fuses

The vehicle's electrical system is protected from damage due to electrical overload by fuses.
This vehicle has 2 fuse boxes: one located in the lower driver's side dashboard panel, and the other in the engine compartment near the battery.
If any light, accessory, or vehicle control does not work, check the fuse of the related circuit. If a fuse is blown, its internal element is melted.
If the electrical system does not work, check the driver's side fuse box first.
Before replacing a blown fuse, disconnect the negative battery cable.
Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating.
If the fuse blows again after replacement, this indicates an electrical fault. Avoid using the affected system and consult an authorized Kia dealer immediately.
Three types of fuses are used: blade-type for low amperages, cartridge-type and multi-function for high amperages.
CAUTION - Replacing fuses
- Do not replace a fuse with one of any other rating.
- A fuse with a higher rating may cause damage and a possible fire.
- Do not install a jumper wire or aluminum foil in place of the correct fuse, even as a temporary repair.
NOTE The actual label of the fuse/relay box may differ from the parts supplied.
WARNING
- When replacing a blown fuse or relay with a new one, make sure the new fuse or relay is firmly seated between the clips. If the fuse or relay is not firmly seated, the vehicle wiring and electrical devices may be damaged and cause a fire.
- Do not remove fuses, relays, and terminals secured with bolts or nuts. Loosely fitted fuses, relays, and terminals may cause a fire. If fuses, relays, and terminals secured with bolts or nuts are blown, it is recommended that you consult an authorized Kia dealer.
- Do not connect any objects other than fuses or relays to the fuse/relay terminals, such as actuators or wiring.
Contact failures and malfunction of the entire system may occur.
The vehicle's electrical system and the wiring inside the vehicle may be damaged or burned due to a faulty contact.
