Checking the brake fluid level Periodically check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. The fluid level must be between the MAX (Maximum) and MIN (Minimum) marks on the side of the reservoir.

Before removing the reservoir cap and topping up the fluid, thoroughly clean the area around the cap to prevent fluid contamination.

If the level is low, add fluid up to the MAX (Maximum) mark. The level will drop as mileage increases.

This is a normal condition caused by wear of the brake friction pads. If the level is too low, have the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.

Use only brake fluid of the specified type. (See “Recommended lubricants and capacities” in Chapter 8.)

Never mix different types of fluid.

WARNING - Brake fluid leakage If the brake system requires frequent fluid top-ups, the vehicle must be checked by an authorized Kia dealer. WARNING - Brake fluid Handle brake fluid with care when replacing or topping up. Avoid contact with the eyes. If it does, immediately flush the eyes with plenty of clean water. Have the eyes checked by a medical professional as soon as possible. CAUTION Avoid contact of brake fluid with the vehicle paint, as it may damage the paint. Brake fluid that has been exposed to open air for a long time must never be used, as its quality can no longer be guaranteed.

This fluid must be disposed of.

Do not add an incorrect fluid to the brake fluid.

Even a few drops of mineral-based oil, such as engine oil, introduced into the brake system can damage brake system components.
