Normal maintenance schedule
To ensure proper operation of the emission control system, perform the following periodic maintenance. Keep records of all emission control inspections to preserve the vehicle warranty. Service intervals depend on mileage or elapsed time, whichever occurs first.
*1: Check the engine oil level and for leaks every 500 km (350 miles) or before starting a long trip.
*2: The maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality.
Applies if qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent"> is used. If the diesel fuel specifications do not meet EN 590, change it according to the maintenance schedule for vehicles operated under severe conditions.
*3: If the recommended oil is not available, change the engine oil and oil filter every 20,000 km or every 12 months.
*4: If the recommended oil is not available, change the engine oil and oil filter every 15,000 km.
*5: Check the engine oil regularly and keep it at the correct level. Operating with insufficient oil will damage the engine, and such damage is not covered by the warranty.
*6: The maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality.
Applies if qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent"> is used. If the diesel fuel specifications do not meet the requirements of EN590, the filter must be replaced more often.
If safety-related problems occur, such as restricted fuel flow, engine misfiring, loss of power, starting difficulties, etc., replace the fuel filter immediately, regardless of the maintenance schedule, and consult an authorized Kia dealer for detailed information.
*7: The fuel filter is considered a non-serviceable part; however, periodic inspection is recommended because this maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. If serious problems occur, such as restricted fuel flow, vibration while driving, loss of power, starting difficulties, etc., replace the fuel filter immediately, regardless of the maintenance schedule, and consult an authorized Kia dealer for detailed information.
*8: Change the transmission gear oil whenever the transmission has been submerged in water.
*9: Check and adjust or replace as necessary.
Check the drive belt tensioner, idler pulley and alternator, and repair or replace them as necessary.
*10: When topping up the coolant, use only the approved coolant specified for this vehicle. Never mix hard water with the factory-filled coolant. An incorrect coolant mixture may cause serious malfunctions or engine damage.
*11 : Check for excessive valve train noise and/or engine vibration, and adjust if necessary. This work should be performed by an authorized Kia dealer.
*12 : Kia recommends using good-quality gasoline that meets European fuel standards (EN228) or equivalent.
For customers who do not use good-quality fuel, regularly use fuel additives, and experience starting problems or uneven engine running, one bottle of fuel additive is recommended to be added to the fuel tank every 15,000 km (Europe). Additives are available from an authorized Kia dealer, together with instructions for use. Do not mix with other fuel additives.
