Warning and Indicator Lights
All warning lights are checked by turning the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine). Any light that does not come on should be checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
After starting the engine, make sure that all warning lights have gone off. If any of them remains on, this indicates a condition that requires attention. After releasing the parking brake, the brake warning light should go off. The low fuel warning light will stay on as long as the fuel level is low.
ECO indicator
(if equipped)
The ECO indicator is a system that informs the driver about economical driving. The display shows whether driving is economical, which helps improve fuel economy.
- The ECO indicator (green) will come on when the vehicle is driven economically with ECO mode on.
If you do not want the indicator to light up, turn ECO mode OFF by pressing the RESET button.
For operation of ECO mode ON/OFF, see the previous page.
Airbag warning light
(if equipped)
This warning light comes on for about 6 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

If this warning light stays on, it may indicate low brake fluid level in the reservoir.
If the warning light stays on, do the following:
- Carefully drive to the nearest safe place and stop your vehicle.
- With the engine off, check the brake fluid level immediately and add fluid if necessary. Then inspect all brake system components for fluid leaks.
- If a leak is found, the warning light remains on, or the brakes do not work properly, do not attempt to drive the vehicle. The vehicle should be towed to an authorized Kia dealer to have the brake system inspected and necessary repairs made.
Your vehicle is equipped with a dual-circuit brake system.
This means that the two wheels will continue to be braked even if one of the two circuits fails. When only one circuit is working, a greater than normal brake pedal travel and greater pedal force are required to stop the vehicle.
Also, stopping the vehicle with only part of the brake system working will take a longer distance. If a brake failure occurs while driving, shift to a lower gear to obtain additional braking force and stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
To check the bulb, confirm that the parking brake light and the low brake fluid warning light come on when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
WARNING Driving with a warning light on is dangerous. If the brake warning light remains on, the brakes must be inspected and repaired immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.
